Infocus

Dodgy's pick is Avatarex # 1 by creator/writer Grant Morrison. Published by Graphic India, this is a new Space Opera with a genius at the helm with gorgeous art by Edison George & color by S. Sundarakannan. You don't want to miss this!

Al Mega's Indie OG is X-O Manowar, he discussed both the 90's and current version Valiant's flagship hero who was co-created by writer and former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Jim Shooter, artist Bob Layton, and Jon Hartz.  X-O Manowar began as an original character by Valiant Comics with issue #1 with a cover date of February 1992. Less than a year after it began, with the Unity crossover and quality storytelling bringing attention to Valiant books, back issue prices rose dramatically due to limited early print runs. With comic book speculators buying multiple copies of each issue, sales reached as high as 800,000 copies for X-O Manowar #0 (August 1993) before dropping off. This original series ran for 68 issues before being canceled after the Sept. 1996 issue, of which only approximately 14,000 were printed.

Issues #1–4 of the original X-O Manowar series were reprinted in a trade paperback, X-O Manowar: Retribution, which sold over 150,000 copies. Issues #7 and #8 were reprinted as part of the Unity Saga trade paperbacks.

Valiant Entertainment began its relaunch of the Valiant Universe with May 2012's X-O Manowar. This new ongoing series is being written by Robert Venditti with pencils by Cary Nord and is reaching it's end with issue #50.

Josh had a great choice with a OG Dell character named Turok.

Turok is a fictional American comic book character that first appeared in books published by Western Publishing through licensee Dell Comics. He first appeared in Four Color Comics #596 (October/November 1954). After a second Four Color appearance (#656 October 1955), the character graduated to his own title – Turok, Son of Stone (#3 March-May 1956) — published by both Dell and then Gold Key Comicsfrom 1956 to 1982. Subsequently, he appeared in titles published by Valiant Comics, Dark Horse Comics and Dynamite Comics.

The character also inspired a popular video game series, starting with Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, published by Acclaim Entertainment in 1997. Several sequels would be released in the following years for various gaming consoles.

Kickstarter Crusade

Dodgy' pick was Past the Last Mountain, by Paul Allor (TMNT, G.I Joe & other licenced work) and aussie upstart Louie Joyce who attended the Zine Fair at Kings Comics.

Past the Last Mountain is a fantasy book, the story consists of a Faun, Dragon & Troll-Boy who have escaped prison looking for freedom. To view the full issue go to:

Al picked Black Created by (W) Kwanza Osajyefo (A) Jamal Igle (CA) Khary Randolph, Ashley A. Woods, after a hugely successful kickstarter that almost garnered 100k in corwdfuding Black Mask Studioes has picked it up and it will be relased as a 6 issue mini series.

Synopsis: IT’S HERE! The comic that blazed through Kickstarter during Black History Month 2016. In a world that already hates and fears them – what if only Black people had superpowers. After miraculously surviving being gunned down by police, a young man learns that he is part of the biggest lie in history. Now he must decide whether it’s safer to keep it a secret or if the truth will set him free.

Josh picked a hilarious title called The Streaker by Chad Colpitts Something naked this way comes... The Streaker is forced to join a nudist colony to hide the fact that clothing burns off his skin.
